Ernesto Salmeron (b. 1977) lives and works in Managua, Nicaragua. With a degree in audiovisual communication from a university in Cali, Colombia, Ernesto began to work in documentary photography in 1996. He has exhibited his work in many international exhibitions including the 52nd Venice Biennial, 2007, V Bienal de Artes Visuales del Itsmo Centroamericano, Museo de Arte de El Salvador – MARTE, San Salvador, 2006, Sal a la Sopa Pejibaye Pal Vigorón at the MADC Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo, San José, 2006, The Prague Biennale in the Czech Republic, 2005 and he won the V Bienal de Artes Visuales de Nicaragua in 2005. His work is presented in various catalogs of Contemporary Art around the world and he has worked as a photojournalist for international periodicals and magazines like The Toronto Globe and Mail and La Revista Ameritas de la OEA in Washington, amongst others. He is founder of the Ejército Videasta Latinoamericano (E.V.I.L) where he produces video and still documentaries.
