REP [Revolutionary Experimental Spaces], Kiev Ukraine
The photo of the performance which we want to propose to reenact in LA is our piece “Untitled Aktion” shown below. We did the performance in 2005 during the parliamentary electoral campaigns. There were a lot of different political manifestations in the main squares of all the big cities at that time. That was time where public spaces were greatly activated by political demonstrations.
Then we went out from the city to an empty field in the evening and made our manifestation without any witnesses. The slogans were taken from newspapers. They didn’t make a lot of sense and were not very important. We propose to make the same action near LA (maybe in the desert). Slogans have to be invented by those who will reenact “Untitled Aktion.”
The needed directions are: “Prepare placards, flags and megaphones. Slogans on placards should be invented by you according to the context. Go to a field or the desert. Make a political manifestation there. No witnesses should be present.”
R.E.P. (Revolutionary Experimental Space) group, based in Kiev, Ukraine, was founded in 2004. In 2005 the R.E.P. group was in residence at the Centre for Contemporary Art at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
